Top of the front cover: "Kings of Capital" - note shield with the dollar sign on it; man with a crown and sword standing over a man wrapped by a snake, who winds down the front cover towards a woman holding scales (of justice, I assume; measurement perhaps?) who looks as if she's about to knight a worker (who is kneeling before her, sleeves rolled up, ax in hand). Note "Knights of Labor" scroll at the right. She's standing on a shield with stars and stripes on it; note scrolls around the edges of the cover, the plant (with berries/vine) towards the bottom. Star in the middle left of the front cover. Edges of text seem a bit bevelled. Back cover is plain. Spine design coordinates with front cover - serpent towards the top; title; Leavitt; shield with scales, stars, and stripes; "illustrated" plants.
