Cover: brown embossed cover with floral design (not as close to the corners as some of the others have been - a ruled border with floral framework inside); gold in the center of the cover with a clock set at 1:05, surrounded by females (statues?) on each side; almost Renaissance looking indesign; the back has the same embossing but without the gold clock. Spine has "Master Humphrey's Clock" and floral design in gold (and a "I" to indicate that this is the first volume); aligning spine design with cover happens later. Note rib grain (vertically) - and can see the texture of the cloth through the gilt design of the cloth

Paper Edges: unadorned
Illustrations: by George Cattermole and Hablot Browne; illustrations at the beginning of chapters, and sometimes interspersed between; illustration opposite the title page - arched outline of weapons, knights, jousting, swords, and angels; and inside the arch, two images of people sitting around a table (one group seems to be asleep).
